Get the kids to leave iPads and other electronic devices at home and let them roam free! There is a small play area for the little ones by the shop and our bigger play area is in the bottom field. Of course plenty of space for young ones to jump on their bikes and explore, kick a ball around or head to the woods for den building, nature trails and hide and seek. Collect a nature trail booklet from the shop or reception so that the kids don't miss out!
We also have Have-a-Go Archery sessions for adults and children running on the park! Geoff is a qualified instructor and will be running 30-40 minute sessions on Saturdays including fun shoots with balloons for the kids with a chance to win a trophy! We hope to run competitions on Sunday mornings (depending on numbers) with a chance to win a holiday voucher! Our first sessions will run Easter weekend and we run them every Saturday throughout the spring/summer season and into autumn if the weather permits (depending on numbers). Adults £7, children £5.
Nature Safari will be visiting twice over the spring/summer of 2017. On Sunday 28th May, 9.30-11.30am they will be running a Magical Woodlands session whereby children will do a range of woodland activities including getting creative with natural objects making musical intruments (log drum kits, grass kazoos, leaf shakers), masks, fairy wands, mud faces followed by cooking marshmallows on the fire pit. Then on Sunday 20th August 2017, 9.30 - 11.30pm they will be running a Den Building and Campfires session with a den building competition followed by cooking kebabs, marshmallows and hot chocolate on the fire pit! Sessions are suitable for 6-11 year olds and cost £7 per child. Parents are welcome to join in but aren't needed to supervise. Booking in advance strongly recommended.
Crafty Devilz will be back again on Saturday 6th August 2017 helping us perfect our circus skills! Learn how to spin plates, juggle, blow giant bubbles along with many other tricks. A free event for park guests.
Join fairandfunky for their SCRAPtastic workshops on Sunday 30 July and Sunday 13th August 2017, both sessions run from 9.30 to 10.30am!Children of any age can get creative with the outdoors, nature and environment in mind and transform everyday scrap into birdfeeders, animal masks, bee and butterfly mobiles, animal yoghurt pot puppets! £4 per child, Booking in advance essential.
Dogs are very welcome and the surrounding woodland is ideal for walking, however we do strictly ask that they are kept on a lead on the park at all times. With or without a dog the woods are just a starting point for lots more walks from the park (although a dog may come in handy to pull you up the hills here!) If you prefer shorter walks with a pub at the end, Brockholes village with The Rock Inn serving food is an 8 minute stroll away down the lane or along the riverside through the woods. Or The Travellers Rest is an extra 5 minutes walk on from The Rock Inn and serves good food. The village also has a post office, store and take away. For ideas about walking routes, we have plenty of information in the shop. You could even bring your GPS for geo-caching – there are a couple waiting to be discovered around the park. A great way to encourage the kids to get out walking!
If you’re into angling there is plenty of fishing to be done here with our small lake taking centre stage and the River Holme running around the park. Whatever you decide to do here on the park be sure to save your bread crusts for the ducks, our friendly campsite pets!
