Things to do

Get the kids to leave iPads and other devices at home and let them roam free! Our play area, situated in the Bottom Field next to Hazlewood Amenities, is a popular spot for families. If you fancy a game of Adventure Golf, our course is in the theme of camping and the Great Outdoors and open everyday! The 6-wheel Crazi-Bugz come out from spring through to early autumn so that children aged 6 to 14 years can do a bit of off-roading and explore the purpose-built woodland track. Please check the exact dates with us. Of course, there is plenty of space for young ones to jump on their bikes and explore, kick a ball around or head to the woods for den building, nature trails and hide and seek. Collect a nature trail booklet from the shop/reception so that the kids don't miss out!
Having opened in 1986, throughout 2026 we're excited to be celebrating the park's 40th birthday! There will be some special events during spring summer - more information about these will be on our socials.
Throughout the school Easter holidays our Easter Egg Trail will be set out around the park for children to solve the clues! Chocolate treats will be rewarded and entries with a full set of correct answers will go into a prize draw to win 50% off their next stay on the park! £1.50 per question sheet.
Crafty Devilz will be running Den Building sessions for the adventurous (any age welcome) in the private woodland. Teams will compete against each other and prizes will go to the best dens! The session costs £5 per child, booking in advance is essential. To book, please call reception on 01484 665819.
The Holme Valley Duck Race is a favourite amongst guests (and staff!) Select a duck (£1) from the shop, and will it be the first to reach the stone bridge?! There are fantastic prizes to be won and all proceeds go to local charities.
Crafty Devilz visit the park over the summer holidays and help us perfect our Circus Skills! Learn how to spin plates, juggle, blow giant bubbles along with many other tricks. A free event for park guests. Please see our events calendar for dates.
NEW for 2023! Join River Holme Connections, a local environmental charity, for their River Explorer session! Children have the chance to get involved with local nature and up close and personal with river bugs – activities are fun and educational with an emphasis on the beautiful River Holme. Suitable for children aged 4 to 11 years, or for anyone interested in river bugs! Under 8s must be accompanied by an adult, booking in advance essential by calling the shop/reception on 01484 665819.
Dogs are very welcome and the surrounding woodland is ideal for walking, however we do strictly ask that they are kept on a lead on the park at all times. With or without a dog, the woods are just a starting point for lots more walks from the park (although a dog may come in handy to pull you up the hills here!)
If you prefer shorter walks with a pub at the end, Brockholes village with The Rock Inn serving tasty food at good prices is an 8-minute stroll away down the lane or along the riverside through the woods. The Travellers Rest is an extra 5 minutes walk on from The Rock Inn and also serves food. Please check ahead for both pubs when planning to eat out. The Jacobs Well is worth going slightly further for though - delicious food with a friendly welcome (humans and dogs!) If a hill climb doesn't faze you, head up to Thurstonland to The Rose & Crown where they have an excellent menu with plenty of choice - even a separate one for cheese! For ideas about walking routes, we have plenty of information in the shop. You could even bring your GPS for geo-caching – there are a couple waiting to be discovered around the park. A great way to encourage the kids to get out walking!
If you’re into angling there is plenty of fishing to be done here with our small lake taking centre stage and the River Holme running around the park. Improvements to the pond and fishing are underway for 2026 with fantastic fishing pegs being built and a plan to re-stock the pond with fish.
Whatever you decide to do here on the park, the ducks are always looking for a snack! We sell duck feed in the shop especially for our friendly campsite pets!
The Camping Stove takeaway food cabin is open from Easter until mid-September. We serve freshly baked croissants, together with sausage and bacon rolls to help you fuel for the day together with delicious rustic pizzas, burgers and chips in the evening. Please see click here for more details.
